My name is Martina Kosorinova and I was born in August 2017 in Slovakia. Since the beginning, my journey has not been an easy one. During pregnancy, my mother and I underwent an in-utero operation due to my spine split diagnosis. Thanks to the insurance company, the parents were able to secure a place in a great clinic in Belgium specializing in this type of treatment. Due to the successful procedure, the swelling of my brain stopped allowing my head to form properly. I am a fighter! I was born prematurely and spent a month in a life support unit. Doctors pronounced my lower body paralyzed.
Nevertheless, there is always hope! After release from hospital in Slovakia, my parents brought me to an orthopedic clinic in Vienna. Through gradual casting and recasting my legs are coming back to proper shape. I will soon need to undergo a series of operations that should improve the mobility of my hips and ankles. There is a good chance I will be able to sit one day and who knows what comes next, right? However, these operations are no longer covered by insurance and will be financially above my parent’s capabilities. A commercial loan that they asked for was not approved and they are looking for help from you!
Part of my family lives in Czech Republic and so we decided to look for charitable help here. We created cooperation with the Foundation of the Charter 77 and the so-called “Konto Bariéry”. A respectable partner who has been helping people with diverse disabilities for the past three decades.
So here I am, waving to all of you – to those who can help and to those who will just share my story. Even the smallest donation is bringing me closer to my dream. Living a fulfilled, happy and possibly mobile life.
For more information on what this operation can mean watch this video about the Ponseti method.

RUNELLER runs for Martinka:
Last five weeks of my Prague Marathon 2018 preparation, one of the highlights of the season, I decided to dedicate to Martinka. For every kilometer I would run I would donate from my own pocket one US Dollar (approx. 21 Czech Crowns). From 30 March until 06 May I completed in total 311 kilometers and donated herewith 6.531 CZK. The same time I decided to donate additional money in case I would run the marathon in my new personal best. I was successful and after the finish time of 3 hours, 14 minutes and 18 seconds I donated additional 4.219,50 CZK (amount is inspired by the marathon distance). In total, I donated 10.750,60 CZK to Martinka.
