Prague marathon 2019, winter and cold weather (four degrees Celsius), ideal conditions to achieve something. My performance until the “half-time” in a beautiful time – I had a tempo somewhere around 3 hours and 8 minutes. Then, on the kilometer 22, I totally lost it. In a running slang, “I burned myself”. The next few kilometers were so awfully mentally demanding, that I don’t remember the last time it hurt so much on this Prague marathon course. It didn’t look good. The 30th kilometer brought a small miracle and I returned to the game, but I could not connect to the previous good pace. Finally, I at least turned away the fail and although finishing far beyond the possibilities of today’s race and my possibilities, yet the time 3 hours, 20 minutes and 42 seconds is 13 seconds better than six weeks ago in Seoul and actually my new second-best performance. Given the sequence of events after the 21st kilometer, I am happy.
